Course Record

On 4th May 1983 Ian Woosnam returned to his former club to play in a charity event. He had, by that time, won his first tournament on the European Tour. This he had achieved by winning the Swiss Open, the previous year.

Playing alongside Anthony Smith, Basil Griffiths and Andy Griffiths, Ian set the course record when he shot a 65, a record that was to stand for over 24 years.

On 25th August 2007, Ian's record was broken, by one shot, by his former Llanymynech and Shropshire Junior team-mate, Allen Lewis, now the head green-keeper at Llanymynech.

In August 2013 Allen's record was equalled by yet another former Llany junior, Tom King.

Tom is congratulated by Allen!
