The Professionals

The weather can never be guaranteed at Llanymynech but one thing you can be sure of is the warm welcome that you will receive in the "Pro's Shop".

We are blessed with two P.G.A. professionals in Andy Griffiths and his assistant, Tom Farquarson. Andy came through the junior ranks at Llanymynech, as did very many professionals and assistant professionals who are now scattered throughout the length and breadth of the golfing world. Andy, in 2012 celebrated forty years as the club's pro. Initially, he took on a teaching role even though, at that time, he hadn't completed the P.G.A. course. In order to meet the necessary requirements of this qualification he went to Wrexham Golf Club as assistant pro whilst still maintaining his teaching commitments at Llanymynech. Andy qualified in 1974 and became, officially, the club pro. That same year the pro's shop was opened.

Tom became assistant pro when Sam Roberts left in late 2015.

On a trip back to Llanymynech in 2014, Ian Woosnam called in at the pro's shop to meet up with Andy, his long-time friend. Tony Minshull formerly of Hill Valley G.C., another ex-Shropshire junior and now involved in Woosie's new golf academy, came along too.
